In 2015, total operating costs of continuing operations before exceptional items amounted to €7.1 billion, €0.6 billion higher than in 2014, when these costs stood at €6.5 billion. Total operating costs in 2015 included Cost of sales to an amount of €5.3 billion (2014: €4.8 billion); gross margin as a percentage of net sales stood at 32% (2014: 32%).
